Mindset is the Key to Getting What You Want

Monday, May 17th, 2010

How many times have we all heard that mindset is the key to manifesting what you want?  Do you believe it?  Do you consciously work on your mindset?

Or are you like so many who are at the mercy of the thoughts they think… you know just allowing any old thought to take up residence in your head.  I for one, have often times been guilty of letting these old thoughts freeload in my head.  Not anymore!  I have thrown the bums out.

Recently, I have had some health challenges and have not given my blog much attention.  I had to undergo some medical tests and there was some question about how healthy my heart was.  My doctor asked me to consult with a cardiologist.  I immediately sprang into action after making the appointment. I was not going to sit by and worry about my heart.  I made a conscious decision to visualize the heart I wanted.  I began talking to my heart, thanking it for pumping and keeping me going all these years, despite how I treated it.  While visualizing a healthy heart, I held my hands over my heat and let the energy flow from my hands into my heart.  I did this every day until I saw the cardiologist.

The cardiologist looked over the tests and said, “This is a healthy heart.”  None of the conditions my doctors were concerned about were there.  I do have to have a stress test but the news was so much better than my doctors expected.

Mindset is powerful.  I could have spent my time worrying about my heart and creating stress which would help to create a self fulfilling prophecy or I could focus on what I want and shape my reality.

By keeping my focus on what I wanted, a healthy heart, I was able to raise my vibration to be in harmony with that thought.  All things are created twice, once in our mind as a thought and again in reality.  By keeping the focus on a healthy heart, I was able to bring that about in reality.

When working on creating your reality, this does not mean that you do nothing.  You still need to do the work. If all you do is sit and visualize, you will not manifest what you want. Action is the glue that binds thought and results together. For me that meant eating healthy, taking vitamins and minerals and being mindful of the things within my control to be heart healthy.

In the end, time will pass but what reality do you want to live in?  One of doom and gloom or one of optimism and abundance?

It really is in your hands.

“Breathe. Let go. And remind yourself that this very moment is the only one you know you have for sure. “ ~ Oprah Winfrey

All is Well

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

“If I could tell the world just one thing, it would be, we’re all OK.”
Jewel

I’ve always loved the song Hands by Jewel. It is a beautiful song and to me, seems more timely than ever.  So many of us are worried about what is going to happen to us – will we lose our jobs, can we pay our bills, what happens if I get sick?  These things can happen, and they may not, so you end up worrying about things that never take place.

I am still in the hospital and I am scheduled to go home instead of a physical therapy rehab.  I have my moments when I worry, “I don’t feel ready, what is going to happen to me?”  But I can’t keep my focus there.

We all know that whatever you pay attention to expands.  So you have to keep your focus on what you want.  I have to keep my focus on what I want – being able to walk out of the hospital and be able to take care of myself.

So for all of us – I am putting a YouTube version of Jewel singing, Hands to remind us:

“Not to worry ’cause worry is wasteful
And useless in times like these”
I won’t be made useless
I won’t be idle with despair
I will gather myself around my faith
For light does the darkness most fear”

I would like to hear your comments and experiences with worry and fear and how you deal with it.

Remember, “We are never broken.”

The Reality of Abundance

Sunday, March 22nd, 2009

I hadn’t been feeling well during the month of December 2008 and I kept telling my friends I feel like I had been run over by a Mac truck.  I woke up on Jan. 2nd and was coughing so hard I broke three ribs, so I went to the emergency room. I was admitted to the hospital with pneumonia and asthma.  It got so bad, I almost died.  I ended up on a ventilator and had to have a tracheostomy. I laid unconscious for six weeks in ICU.

I am happy to report that I am doing better now.  I am off the ventilator but still in the hospital.  But it got me thinking about abundance and how fortunate I truly am. I have been so blessed by the abundance of prayers and support that I have received from both my friends in my daily life and from my online friends.  When I fell ill, my online friends circulated the news and started an international prayer room.  I was blessed to have someone put my name in the Wailing Wall.

When I was wakened from my unconscious state and saw all that was done in my name, as sick as I was, I knew I was rich beyond measure.  I have one friend that I met online who lives in Canada and sent me a card every week. It wasn’t just the cards, flowers and calls. They were and continue to be wonderful.  But it was the realization that I have an abundance of love in my life.  I wouldn’t trade that for all the riches in the world.  Prosperity and abundance are not just about money and what we possess…it is about love and friendship.

In this time in our lives, it is so easy to focus on what is happening in the world, our 401K’s….and don’t get me wrong, they are important.  But remember to look at the blessings you have in your life also and be grateful for them.

I’ve been given many gifts throughout this ordeal.  I have been given a second chance at life.  And I have been shown how rich my life truly is. So many people never find this out until it’s too late.

To all my friends and to those I will never know or meet who prayed for me or sent well wishes, my most profound thank you for being a gift in my life.  I love you all.   I also want to say a special thank you to Dr. Brij Sharma and Dr. Kwiatek for saving my life.  A special thank you to Linda Navarro, who helped me enormously during this time.  And also to the team of nurses, speech pathologists, social workers, respiratory, physical and occupational therapists and personal care aides at North Shore University Hospital at Glen Cove. They went above and beyond their jobs and offered me support and encouragement that I will never forget.  They are all angels in my book.

If you would like to share your experience of love and abundance, it would be an honor to include it here.  We can all use that kind of good news!

Your Life is Powered by You!

Sunday, December 28th, 2008

We are about to close out 2008 and ring in the new year!  What do you want for yourself?  If you didn’t pay attention to the economy and all the externals, what is your dream for yourself? Have you even dared to let yourself dream?

It is my New Years wish for you that you do dream and dream big! Get involved in your dreams and act on that! Don’t pay attention to what is happening in the economy today. Your current results are not your potential. The results you are currently getting are a reflection of what you have been thinking about!

It’s time to think new thoughts!  Make new plans!  Take responsibility for making it happen!  If you don’t care about your hopes and dreams, who will?

Your Life is Powered By You!

I first heard that expression from Les Brown.  He was talking about his experience in trying to get on the Robert Schuller program. Watch this clip as he shares how he made his dream a reality.

You can do this to!   As Les says, “your life is powered by you!”

How Much is Enough?

Tuesday, December 23rd, 2008

How much is enough? How much do you need to feel like you are living in prosperity and abundance? Do you know? Do you think it is even possible?

I used to say that I need more money. I always needed more money. I was always coming from a position of lack. I used to joke that I had a disease called “fundsalow“: you know Funds Are Low! And that’s exactly what I got. I was always short of money!

So you can imagine my surprise when I first read You Were Born Rich by Bob Proctor and read that if you were to ask for “lotsa money” that that would not work because the subconscious mind does not know what “lotsa” is. The subconscious mind must accept whatever thoughts it is given and acts on it.

So I began to really take this lesson to heart. It is important to decide how much money you want to have. And dream big. Decide what it is you want and then ask yourself, why do you want this money? It is not enough to say that you want the money to live a better life. What will make your life better? Is it a new car? Bob recommends that you take your time with this and take out a piece of paper and write down all the things you want to spend the money on in the coming year. This is a perfect time to do this! Include your rent or mortgage, bills, vacation, savings…whatever you are going to spend money on.

Just thinking about what you want won’t make this happen. You must move into action! Find a coach to help you get what you want! Make 2009 the beginning of abundance and prosperity for you. You can do this!

If you are interested in finding out more about how to do this process and what Bob Proctor recommends on how to make this transition from a poverty mindset to a prosperity consciousness, sign up for my mailing list.  You can reach me by using the contact page on this blog.

I’d really love to begin a dialogue with you on how you are handling the issue of how much is enough?

May You Have a Joyous Thanksgiving!

Thursday, November 27th, 2008

I want to wish everyone who celebrates a Joyous Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving is by definition an expression of gratitude and a pre-cursor to having a prosperity consciousness. It is in the living of gratitude, that we can raise our vibration which will allow us to attract to us all that we desire.  The universe is abundant, it is we who forget that and live in lack and limitation.  So on this day and every day hereafter, remember that when you are living in an abundant universe, you can never take more than your share.

So for all my friends whether you celebrate this day of Thanksgiving formally or not, may you be blessed with abundance and prosperity.  May you live in a state of Thanksgiving!

To Panic or Not To Panic….

Monday, October 13th, 2008

Last week we saw record low’s in the stock market. Panic has set in. I don’t know anyone who is feeling secure right now. I have been working on my feeligs of financial instability. I have made a decision not to focus on what I am seeing on the television. It is all bad news. And we all know that what we focus on expands. So, if all we do is pay attention to bad news and see collapse and despair everywhere, we will get more of that. What we are seeing is all about scarcity, that there are limited resources. That there is only one pie and that we all have to fight for our little piece of it. I believed that for many years.

When you come from a prosperity consciousness, there is more than one pie. There is unlimited pie. Bob Proctor always says that “when you are dealing with the infinite, you can never take more than your share.” I believe that. In our personal lives, the results that we get are directly correlated to what we had been thinking about up till then. Our thoughts create our feelings which in turn move us into action and create our results. The good news is that we can change our thinking anytime we want to.

The truth of the matter is that we are responsible for our financial futures. I know for myself that I have in the past given that responsibilty away. I was at effect of the job market, what my boss would pay me or who I gave power to control my IRA to. No more. Suze Orman was right! We have to take our financial lives in our own hands. We can do it. No one is going to care more about what happens to you than you. And the truth is, that even in this horrible economy, people will prosper. Why….because they don’t see the glass as half empty, they see opporunities.

So…think about it. You can go on drifting on the sea until you get beached by the economy or you can fight against the tide and look for opportunites that you never saw before.

What September 11th Has Taught Me

Thursday, September 11th, 2008

Today is September 11th. I was sitting in my doctors office, watching the reading of the names at Ground Zero. Everyone was sitting there crying. No one spoke. The woman sitting next to me, handed me a tissue in a shared moment of sadness.

But the lessons of September 11th go beyond loss and pain. I was privileged to work as a grief counselor at the Yankee Stadium Memorial Service in NYC. It was a time the city came together, our sadness and pain the back drop for one of our finest hours as a community of people.

September 11th taught me that I need to embrace life, to live it abundantly! None of us is promised a tomorrow. Each day is precious. No matter what the stock market is, the size of our bank accounts, whether we are in the jobs we want, or what we look like, we are here today. And that means we have the ability to change the quality of our lives.

In the times of loss and sadness, I have found my gratitude. I remember to say thank you. I appreciate the small gestures, the offer of a tissue in a time of grief. When I can stay in that gratitude, I live with a prosperity consciousness. I am blessed beyond good fortune to have people who care about me and that my needs are taken care of.

From this day forward may you live in that prosperity consciousness! There is more than enough. We are blessed at all times, no matter what our present circumstances.

And may God bless the families who have lost their loved ones.
