To Panic or Not To Panic….

Monday, October 13th, 2008

Last week we saw record low’s in the stock market. Panic has set in. I don’t know anyone who is feeling secure right now. I have been working on my feeligs of financial instability. I have made a decision not to focus on what I am seeing on the television. It is all bad news. And we all know that what we focus on expands. So, if all we do is pay attention to bad news and see collapse and despair everywhere, we will get more of that. What we are seeing is all about scarcity, that there are limited resources. That there is only one pie and that we all have to fight for our little piece of it. I believed that for many years.

When you come from a prosperity consciousness, there is more than one pie. There is unlimited pie. Bob Proctor always says that “when you are dealing with the infinite, you can never take more than your share.” I believe that. In our personal lives, the results that we get are directly correlated to what we had been thinking about up till then. Our thoughts create our feelings which in turn move us into action and create our results. The good news is that we can change our thinking anytime we want to.

The truth of the matter is that we are responsible for our financial futures. I know for myself that I have in the past given that responsibilty away. I was at effect of the job market, what my boss would pay me or who I gave power to control my IRA to. No more. Suze Orman was right! We have to take our financial lives in our own hands. We can do it. No one is going to care more about what happens to you than you. And the truth is, that even in this horrible economy, people will prosper. Why….because they don’t see the glass as half empty, they see opporunities.

So…think about it. You can go on drifting on the sea until you get beached by the economy or you can fight against the tide and look for opportunites that you never saw before.

Can You Think Prosperity in Times of Economic Meltdown?

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

Last week was a very sobering week. It gave new meaning to shock and awe. Our economy on the verge of a stunning collapse. I don’t know about you but there were times I did not want to get out of bed. But here’s the truth, despite all the things going on in our economy today, people still prosper. What is that makes some prosper and others go under? It is the thoughts that they think. You can think any thoughts you choose. You can choose to think about the doom and gloom that is going around you or you can choose to think about abundance and prosperity. Your external reality does not have to dictate how you feel. I choose to focus on prosperity and that money flows to me in increasing quantities through multiple streams on a continous basis. Focusing on thoughts like that allow me to step into actions that will bring about the results that I desire.

I think it’s a great time to to get the book Think and Grow Rich and read it. If you have read it before, read it again. If you have never read it, get it and read it. Napoleon Hill wrote this book to deal with people’s fear of poverty. Hill interviewed the 500 most successful people of his day. He outlines the thirteen steps to riches. Napoleon Hill wrote that desire is the “starting point for all achievement.” There is no better time than now to choose to think abundant, prosperous thoughts.

If you are in debt, you can change that. If you have a poverty mentality, it can change. Your present results are the result of what you’be been thinking about up till now. Now is the time to sit down and look at your relationship to money. The truth is that scarcity is the illusion. We live in an abundant universe and you can never take more than your share.

I start my day by listening to this wonderful prosperity blessing by a very talented woman, Veronica Hay. She is a magnificient writer and it is such a lovely part of my morning ritual. Find something that works for you. Focus on prosperity, no matter what you have in your wallet or what your bank balance is. Start now! There is no time like the present.

The Secret Visualization Tool

Tuesday, August 19th, 2008

A prosperity consciousness was not something I grew up with. I grew up with statements like, “what do you think your last name is: Rockefeller!!!” or “money doesn’t grow on trees.” We all have paradigms about money. We all have messages we were told about money. What were yours?

I never really thought much about money. I have spent the first half of my career in the helping professions as a adolescent counselor and as a therapist. I used to joke that going to social work school was an entrance into poverty. And I suppose I really believed that but didnt’ care to change the focus of my work.

Bob Proctor helped me reframe my thinking about money. He said, “Money is only used for two things. One, it’s to make you comfortable, and the more comfortable you are, the more creative you will become. And the other purpose is it enables you to extend the service you provide far beyond your own presence.”

And he is right. It is hard to have a giving spirit, a spirit of opulence, when you are worried if you can keep your house or pay your bills. So many people today are struggling to make ends meet, to change the way they think about money.

The people from The Secret put out a visualization tool that I found very powerful. I include it here in case you want to revisit and revise your money paradigm.

Aligning With Your Veritable Fortune – Abraham / Esther & Jerry Hicks

Friday, August 15th, 2008

Do you have trouble thinking abundantly? Is prosperity alluding you? You can’t change what you don’t acknowledge. A belief is just a thought you keep thinking, says Abraham.

I think that is where most people get stuck. How do I speak of prosperity and abundance if I am nowhere near that state?

Abraham cautions us not to use sarcasm or humor but to feel the abundance that we want.

You cannot keep telling the same story without living the same reality. You have to tell and feel the story you want to live. Abraham says that you have to pretend that it’s already done.

Look and speak in the direction of where you want to be. Don’t look back from where you come from.
