Can You Think Prosperity in Times of Economic Meltdown?

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

Last week was a very sobering week. It gave new meaning to shock and awe. Our economy on the verge of a stunning collapse. I don’t know about you but there were times I did not want to get out of bed. But here’s the truth, despite all the things going on in our economy today, people still prosper. What is that makes some prosper and others go under? It is the thoughts that they think. You can think any thoughts you choose. You can choose to think about the doom and gloom that is going around you or you can choose to think about abundance and prosperity. Your external reality does not have to dictate how you feel. I choose to focus on prosperity and that money flows to me in increasing quantities through multiple streams on a continous basis. Focusing on thoughts like that allow me to step into actions that will bring about the results that I desire.

I think it’s a great time to to get the book Think and Grow Rich and read it. If you have read it before, read it again. If you have never read it, get it and read it. Napoleon Hill wrote this book to deal with people’s fear of poverty. Hill interviewed the 500 most successful people of his day. He outlines the thirteen steps to riches. Napoleon Hill wrote that desire is the “starting point for all achievement.” There is no better time than now to choose to think abundant, prosperous thoughts.

If you are in debt, you can change that. If you have a poverty mentality, it can change. Your present results are the result of what you’be been thinking about up till now. Now is the time to sit down and look at your relationship to money. The truth is that scarcity is the illusion. We live in an abundant universe and you can never take more than your share.

I start my day by listening to this wonderful prosperity blessing by a very talented woman, Veronica Hay. She is a magnificient writer and it is such a lovely part of my morning ritual. Find something that works for you. Focus on prosperity, no matter what you have in your wallet or what your bank balance is. Start now! There is no time like the present.

Saturday, September 13th, 2008

I just want to extend my thoughts and prayers to the people of Texas and the gulf coast region.  I am praying that people got out safely and that those who stayed behind are safe.

I am part of a group of people who are sending heart-focused care and intention to help ease the emotional discord that this event is creating.

The purpose of The Global Coherence Project (sponsored by Heartmath) empowers co-creation with others for the benefit of all.  You can find out more about The Coherence Project by going to http://www.globalcoherenceproject.org/

May you all be blessed with an abundance of assistance and love.

What September 11th Has Taught Me

Thursday, September 11th, 2008

Today is September 11th. I was sitting in my doctors office, watching the reading of the names at Ground Zero. Everyone was sitting there crying. No one spoke. The woman sitting next to me, handed me a tissue in a shared moment of sadness.

But the lessons of September 11th go beyond loss and pain. I was privileged to work as a grief counselor at the Yankee Stadium Memorial Service in NYC. It was a time the city came together, our sadness and pain the back drop for one of our finest hours as a community of people.

September 11th taught me that I need to embrace life, to live it abundantly! None of us is promised a tomorrow. Each day is precious. No matter what the stock market is, the size of our bank accounts, whether we are in the jobs we want, or what we look like, we are here today. And that means we have the ability to change the quality of our lives.

In the times of loss and sadness, I have found my gratitude. I remember to say thank you. I appreciate the small gestures, the offer of a tissue in a time of grief. When I can stay in that gratitude, I live with a prosperity consciousness. I am blessed beyond good fortune to have people who care about me and that my needs are taken care of.

From this day forward may you live in that prosperity consciousness! There is more than enough. We are blessed at all times, no matter what our present circumstances.

And may God bless the families who have lost their loved ones.

It All Starts With Gratitude

Monday, September 1st, 2008

Gratitude is the key to a happy life. Brother Davide Steindl-Rast said it best, “Gratefulness is the key to a happy life that we hold in our hands, because if we are not grateful, then no matter how much we have we will not be happy — because we will always want to have something else or something more.”

We are what we pay attention to. We can tune into any feeling we want. It’s like a radio with many stations…country, rock, easy listening. Each produces a different mood. When I am in the mood for dancing, I am not going to listen to a radio station that plays elevator music. That would only make me fall asleep. If we want to know what kind of vibration we are in, all we have to do is look at our emotional state.

If I am feeling angry, I am living in a negative vibration. When I am feeling angry, it sets in motion a way of being that produces a certain result, one I am usually not pleased with.

Gratitude is an emotional state that produces a positive vibration. When we are living with a grateful heart, we become open to prosperity.

Wallace D. Wattles wrote in The Science of Getting Rich that lack of gratitude would keep us in poverty. Gratitude keeps us hooked up to our source of supply, some call God and others call by many other names.

Having an attitude of gratitude will keep you from falling into lack and limitation thinking.

So let’s take an action this week to keep us hooked up to our source of supply. Let’s keep a gratitude journal. If you don’t already do this, start. It is life changing. Every day, write down at least five things you are grateful for. They don’t have to be earth shattering. When it’s hard to find things to be grateful for, I think of things like coffee and blue skies. That’s ok.

So if you are already keeping a gratitude journal, great…keep going. If you are not, give it a try. It will change your life.
